Government Report On St. Charles Rare Earths
In response to requests for more detail about rare earth minerals in the St. Charles deposit, Micrex has published a document produced by the Quebec government’s Division of Industrial Minerals and Precious Metals. The document can be found on the St. Charles page of the company’s web site at www.mixcorp.com.
The report describes the sampling, tests and processes conducted by government geologists in 1987 – 1988 when they investigated methods to produce a concentrate of apatite from St Charles ore. The assay results from each stage of the procedure show that the concentration of rare earths increases in step with the concentration of apatite.
Ore samples were taken from two areas on the property, and each was subjected to a series of procedures that included grinding, magnetic separation and flotation.
The final concentrates from the two sample areas contained 40.7% to 42.1% P2O3 and 520 to 560 parts per million (ppm) Yttrium. Other rare earths were also present, and the total of all rare earths in the final concentrate was 2577 to 2775 ppm. It should be noted that the testing program in 1988 did not include tests for erbium (Er), which is the dominant rare earth found in core samples drilled elsewhere on the property. Micrex will include tests for erbium in future sampling programs.
Although the Company considers these test results to be reliable, readers are cautioned that no report on such has been done that would meet current NI 43-101 standards.
This press release has been reviewed by Mr. Michael Dufresne, M.Sc., P.Geol. a principal of APEX Geoscience Ltd. and the Company's Qualified Person for this project under the meaning of NI 43-101.
